Due to the ongoing weekly team competition, next week’s game (30th May) will be a stableford competition and not the usual end of month stroke and putt comp.

The Caloundra Ladies, who tee off immediately after us, have recently had difficulty parking. Jason looker, the club manager, has given us a final heads up.Please could you consider carpooling as if the issue continues, we will have to reduce the number in our field by around 12 players.

Snippets:

  • Don’t forget to add or delete your name to Next Week’s Starting Sheet each Thursday morning before you leave the clubrooms. Please note that if your name is not on the sheet you won’t be included in the tee off schedule.
  • There is also a sheet for your return date for members away for more than one week.
  • Unfortunately, there were 3 incorrect scorecards and the players were disqualified. If in doubt please ask the committee members on the score desk for help.
  • Please note, that preparing the weekly Starting Sheets is a massive job which takes many hours each week. The committee knows lots of you like to play with your “Mates” every week, but Les has to even the numbers up on the front and back 9’s and people are always pulling out or wanting to be added in until the last minute. So, sometimes Les has to move people at the last minute which may mean that you cannot always play with your “Mates”. There is absolutely nothing Les can do about this.
  • Les will be sending the “first cut” out on Friday or Saturday before the following Thursday’s game. If there are any changes, you must let Les know by 6.00 p.m. on the Monday before the game. Les will then send out a Final Starting Sheet on the Monday and no more changes will be made. If you decide that you want to be added to the Starting Sheet, you will just have to turn up on a Thursday morning and take a chance that you get a game.
  • There is a Ladies Day on 16th July – lunchtime golf followed by dinner at the Powerboat Club – More details to follow.
  • Our life member Les Pontin will be participating in the Vinnie’s Sleepout AGAIN in 2024, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Caloundra.

For one night, Thursday 20th June, Les will be ‘sleeping rough’ outside to help raise funds and awareness for those experiencing the harsh realities of homelessness.

Les has a fundraising target of $5,000 for 2024 and we would love to see him exceed his goal.

If you would like to donate, please use the link below (please copy and paste it to your browser) and let’s help Les and St Vinnies break the devastating cycle of homelessness.

Please support Les, as best you can.

  • The Captain’s Roster for the remainder of 2024 was emailed to all members recently. If you cannot be a captain on the date you are allocated, please swap with another member and let Peter Leighton know and he will amend the roster accordingly.
  • Unfortunately, from now until August the waitlist guys can’t be included on the tee off schedule, due the darker mornings. If members pull out, the waitlist players will be allocated a slot in priority of their number on the waitlist.
  • We have 14 people on the waitlist, which is now closed until after the new financial year (July), when the decision will be reviewed.
  • Just a heads up for any members (71 in total) who’s Powerboat Club membership expires in 2024. The club are now processing new cards so pop down for an early renewal.
